Hill Skills Course – an introduction to hillwalking

This two-day course is the perfect introduction to hillwalking in the UK. Designed for those with little or no previous experience, our experienced instructors will support you through the essential skills needed to enjoy safe and rewarding journeys in hill and moorland terrain.

You’ll learn how to plan your walking route, navigate effectively with map and compass, choose the right kit, and understand the challenges of mountain weather. We’ll cover key safety considerations, including how to manage hazards, deal with emergencies, and make sound decisions in the hills. With a focus on practical learning, you’ll spend time out on the fells, putting your new skills into practice and building your confidence in a supportive environment.  This course is ideal for individuals and groups looking to explore the UK’s beautiful countryside with confidence.
