Outdoor Expedition Skills Course 2026
NACRO GM Outdoor Learning are delivering an introduction to planning and supporting the delivery of youth expeditions for teachers, youth workers and community leaders. Equipping leaders with basic expedition skills needed to support delivery of expeditions on foot in urban or rural countryside terrain e.g. Bronze DofE expeditions or local youth expeditions.

| Wed 4th Mar | 5.30 – 8.30pm | Intro to navigation and route planning – Wythenshawe Park |
| Sat 14th March | 9am – 1pm | Navigation practical – Wythenshawe Park |
| Wed 25th Mar | 5.30 – 8.30pm | Campcraft – Intro to tents, stoves, group and leader kit – Wythenshawe Park |
| Sun 29th March | Full day – 10 – 5pm | Location tbc – countryside within easy access from Manchester (public transport options and lift sharing available) – Route planning practical, Supervision, Navigation & Emergencies discussion/ practical. |
There will also be the opportunity to shadow a Nacro Outdoor Learning DofE expeditions in 2026 to gain experience.
Some of these workshops are during Ramadan in 2026 which may impact some attending. We will have breaks for those needing to break fast and pray during the sessions. The full day activity has been scheduled for after Eid.
There are 8 fully funded places available for Youth and Community leaders from VCSO organisations in Manchester (cost usually £150 per person). These are funded by the Youth, Play & Participation team and Manchester Outdoor Education Trust (MOET).
