Young People Review Ghyll Head
A top priority for MOET has always been to make the outdoor offer accessible and inclusive to all children and young people which has included supporting Ghyll Head, Manchester’s Outdoor Education Centre to adapt and grow its SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) offer over the years and to develop some real expertise in this area. The staff therefore were delighted to find out the MOET had been successful in getting a small grant from Manchester’s City Council Local Offer Team to carry out a review of their SEND offer led by Young People.
13 young people from HideOut Youth Zone who attend their Sunday Club for young people with a wide range of learning differences and disabilities volunteered to spend a weekend at Ghyll Head and to look at every aspect of their weekend experience to evaluate what they liked and didn’t like and to identify areas for improvement. On Sunday morning they gave some really useful feedback to Julie Cunningham (Head of Centre) and MOET Trustees on their findings. Overall their feedback was really positive but they also had some good ideas for making the offer even better and more inclusive.
We will share their report shortly.
