Ghyll Head visit – for Manchester’s Youth Leaders
This one day course was the perfect introduction to Manchester’s award-winning residential centre.
Through MOET’s partnership with Manchester Youth, Play and Participation Service, Ghyll Head Outdoor Education Centre hosted an all-inclusive day with transport to and from Manchester, a tour of the centre, an introduction to the processes involved in organising a residential visit, and an active afternoon.
12 Youth Leaders representing Manchester’s Youth Groups attended the day. Their enthusiasm shone through on a very wet day. Only 2 members of the group had taken young people on a residential before, so the day provided staff the essential skills needed to enjoy a rewarding group visit to this fantastic centre on Lake Windermere in the Lake District.
It was a great way to find out about the centre, what they can offer and how to organise a visit and spending the day with other like-minded Youth Leaders, gaining from their experience on incorporating Adventurous Activity into a programme was an added bonus.
A huge thanks to all that attended the day for their enthusiasm and humour and a special thanks to John Cresswell, centre manager, for sharing his expertise on the day.
